Frequently Asked Questions
-
DPC is a membership-based healthcare model where patients pay a flat monthly fee for comprehensive primary care services. This removes the need for insurance billing for routine visits, allowing for lower costs and better access.
-
We’re a great fit for individuals, families, college students, small business employees, and those without ideal insurance coverage.

Your membership at Wellgrove Family Medicine covers unlimited office visits with Dr. Uribe in person or via telehealth; phone calls and direct communication with Dr. Uribe, and many in-office tests and procedures. For procedures like ear cleaning, sutures, staples, skin tags, wound care, etc., you will pay for the cost of the supplies. Testing like in office urine dipstick analysis, pregnancy test, fingerstick blood glucose is included in the membership.

We do not bill insurance, and we are not "in network" with any insurance plans. Our focus is on serving you, not the insurance companies. You are responsible for the monthly fee out of pocket (you may use your HSA). We can provide you with a superbill which you can submit to your insurance for “out-of-network” reimbursement, according to your policy's rules and benefits.
At this time we are unable to charge for services to people enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare. This may change in the future.
-
DPC is not a substitute for health insurance. Although we see patients with and without insurance, we strongly recommend keeping a high deductible health plan (HDHP), catastrophic insurance, and/or enrolling in a medical cost-sharing plan, such as Zion Healthcare, to cover the cost of emergency, hospital, or specialist care.
-
Even with "good" insurance, our model offers advantages that traditional insurance-based care often lacks, such as extended appointments (30–60 minutes minimum), direct communication with your doctor via text/email/phone, and transparent pricing for labs and procedures. Ultimately, DPC is about investing in a strong, personal relationship with your physician that prioritizes prevention and long-term health over volume.
-
Yes, you can absolutely use your insurance for prescriptions. For lab work and imaging, using your insurance depends on your specific plan and whether they require authorizations or that the order be made by an in-network Primary Care Provider (PCP). We will work with you to utilize your insurance wherever possible.
-
While both Direct Primary Care (DPC) and Concierge Medicine offer personalized, high-access care for a fee, DPC is distinct. Concierge practices typically charge a retainer fee in addition to billing your insurance for every visit. Wellgrove Family Medicine is a DPC practice; your single, affordable monthly membership covers all of our services, and we do not bill your insurance for primary care. This structure eliminates third-party interference, keeping costs low and quality high.
-
Yes. You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for your DPC membership, up to $150/month for individuals and $300/month for families. You can pay directly using an HSA debit card or pay out-of-pocket and reimburse yourself from your HSA account. Please be sure to keep itemized receipts for your tax records. Outside of the membership, you can still use your HSA funds for other eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses like prescription drugs, lab work, or imaging, as outlined by the Fidelity Investments HSA Expense Guide. For official IRS guidance on how the latest tax laws interact with DPC and HSA contributions, refer to the IRS Newsroom Announcement on HSA Benefits.
-
While it's true your insurance may cover "annual" labs, the DPC model is often more cost-effective overall. Our partnership with labs allows us to pass deeply discounted cash-pay prices directly to you. These cash prices are frequently less expensive than the co-pays or deductibles you might incur when using insurance. The membership also covers unlimited office visits, extended time with your doctor, and many in-office procedures, eliminating unexpected bills for routine care.
-
DPC is ideal for healthy individuals. Our focus is on prevention, wellness, and comprehensive long-term health. By joining, you establish a relationship with your doctor before a health issue arises, ensuring you have direct, immediate access when you need it. The membership covers comprehensive care, and while you can cancel anytime, we require membership for established care rather than single visits.
-
There is no long-term commitment. You can cancel your membership anytime by giving us 30 days notice in writing. Please note that there are no refunds for membership fees already paid.
