About Our Practice

Wellgrove Family Medicine is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice in Miami, FL. In a traditional system, doctors are often rushed. Here, we've returned to the roots of medicine: a strong, personal relationship between a patient and their physician. By contracting directly with the patient and not billing insurance, we are able to decide how much time is dedicated to each visit.

DPC is not health insurance and does not cover the cost of care you may need in an emergency room, hospital, or specialist’s office. We recommend you maintain a high deductible health plan (HDHP), catastrophic insurance, or enroll in a medical cost-sharing plan for emergencies, illness, or specialist care. DPC does not qualify as minimum essential coverage to satisfy the individual shared responsibility provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, 26 U.S.C. s. 5000A. DPC is not workers’ compensation insurance and does not replace an employer’s obligations.

Why Choose Us:

  • Unrestricted Access: Reach your doctor via phone, text, email, or patient portal message when you need it most. Unlimited office visits in person or via tele-health included in the membership.

  • Extended Visits: No more 10-minute appointments. We have the time to listen.

  • Transparent Costs: A simple monthly membership covers most of your primary care needs—no hidden fees, co-pays, or deductibles.

  • Quality and Excellence in Medicine: Our commitment to quality is rooted in excellent medical training and continuous professional development. We actively seek out continuing education and consult with peers and colleagues, ensuring you receive the best care; grounded in humility and the wisdom to know when a specialist or a fresh perspective is needed.

DPC vs. Traditional Fee-for-Service (FFS) Model

  • Pricing: DPC

Simple, affordable monthly membership. Procedures, labs, and imaging are provided or facilitated at cash-pay prices via professional service providers.

  • Doctor Access: DPC

Direct communication with your doctor via text, email, phone, or patient-portal messaging. Always see your chosen provider. Keep your doctor even when changing jobs or insurance plans.

  • Visit Length: DPC

Extended appointments (30–60 minutes minimum) focused on your needs. Often have same-day or next-day appointments available.

  • Focus: DPC

Prevention, wellness, and comprehensive long-term health. Human connection and care; the foundations of a relationship that aims to accompany you through health challenges and life stages.

  • Pricing: FFS

Co-pays, deductibles, and surprise bills, in addition to a monthly premium. Requires insurance approval for doctors’ orders and sometimes insurance denials - transferring additional burden onto both physician and patient.

  • Doctor Access: FFS

Limited direct communication - speak to nurse or non-clinical staff and must schedule visit to speak with your doctor. Appointments with covering physician or advanced practice provider. Forced to change doctors when changing jobs or insurance plans.

  • Visit Length: FFS

Rushed 10–15 minute appointments. Long wait times for new patient appointments and routine follow-ups.

  • Focus: FFS

Volume of visits and navigating insurance requirements. Often encounter double or triple bookings to ensure minimum volume of visits per day.

Meet the Doctor

Natalia M. Uribe, MD is a board certified family medicine physician who founded Wellgrove Family Medicine to provide a higher standard of care for her community. Her philosophy is centered on the belief that the best medicine happens when patients are heard and supported.

Dr. Uribe has over 10 years’ experience in medicine. She obtained a B.S. in Biology at the University of Miami, then went on to medical school and residency in Philadelphia, PA, at Drexel University College of Medicine and Chestnut Hill Hospital Family Practice Residency Program, respectively, where she found her lifelong dream of practicing medicine reflected in family medicine and primary care.

After training, she returned to Miami and worked in a community health system while participating in the National Health Service Corps. Throughout this time working in the traditional insurance based/fee-for-service system, she experienced first hand the burdens that this system imposes onto both patients and doctors. Her clinical interests include but are not limited to disease prevention and early detection, women’s health, reproductive health, men’s health, and mental health.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • DPC is a membership-based healthcare model where patients pay a flat monthly fee for comprehensive primary care services. This removes the need for insurance billing for routine visits, allowing for lower costs and better access.

  • We’re a great fit for individuals, families, college students, small business employees, and those without ideal insurance coverage.

  • Your membership at Wellgrove Family Medicine covers unlimited office visits with Dr. Uribe in person or via telehealth; phone calls and direct communication with Dr. Uribe, and many in-office tests and procedures. For procedures like ear cleaning, sutures, staples, skin tags, wound care, etc., you will pay for the cost of the supplies. Testing like in office urine dipstick analysis, pregnancy test, fingerstick blood glucose is included in the membership.

  • We do not bill insurance, and we are not "in network" with any insurance plans. Our focus is on serving you, not the insurance companies. You are responsible for the monthly fee out of pocket (you may use your HSA). We can provide you with a superbill which you can submit to your insurance for “out-of-network” reimbursement, according to your policy's rules and benefits.

At this time we are unable to charge for services to people enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare. This may change in the future.

  • DPC is not a substitute for health insurance. Although we see patients with and without insurance, we strongly recommend keeping a high deductible health plan (HDHP), catastrophic insurance, and/or enrolling in a medical cost-sharing plan, such as Zion Healthcare, to cover the cost of emergency, hospital, or specialist care.

  • Even with "good" insurance, our model offers advantages that traditional insurance-based care often lacks, such as extended appointments (30–60 minutes minimum), direct communication with your doctor via text/email/phone, and transparent pricing for labs and procedures. Ultimately, DPC is about investing in a strong, personal relationship with your physician that prioritizes prevention and long-term health over volume.

  • Yes, you can absolutely use your insurance for prescriptions. For lab work and imaging, using your insurance depends on your specific plan and whether they require authorizations or that the order be made by an in-network Primary Care Provider (PCP). We will work with you to utilize your insurance wherever possible.

  • While both Direct Primary Care (DPC) and Concierge Medicine offer personalized, high-access care for a fee, DPC is distinct. Concierge practices typically charge a retainer fee in addition to billing your insurance for every visit. Wellgrove Family Medicine is a DPC practice; your single, affordable monthly membership covers all of our services, and we do not bill your insurance for primary care. This structure eliminates third-party interference, keeping costs low and quality high.

  • Yes. You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for your DPC membership, up to $150/month for individuals and $300/month for families. You can pay directly using an HSA debit card or pay out-of-pocket and reimburse yourself from your HSA account. Please be sure to keep itemized receipts for your tax records. Outside of the membership, you can still use your HSA funds for other eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses like prescription drugs, lab work, or imaging, as outlined by the Fidelity Investments HSA Expense Guide. For official IRS guidance on how the latest tax laws interact with DPC and HSA contributions, refer to the IRS Newsroom Announcement on HSA Benefits.

  • While it's true your insurance may cover "annual" labs, the DPC model is often more cost-effective overall. Our partnership with labs allows us to pass deeply discounted cash-pay prices directly to you. These cash prices are frequently less expensive than the co-pays or deductibles you might incur when using insurance. The membership also covers unlimited office visits, extended time with your doctor, and many in-office procedures, eliminating unexpected bills for routine care.

  • DPC is ideal for healthy individuals. Our focus is on prevention, wellness, and comprehensive long-term health. By joining, you establish a relationship with your doctor before a health issue arises, ensuring you have direct, immediate access when you need it. The membership covers comprehensive care, and while you can cancel anytime, we require membership for established care rather than single visits.

  • There is no long-term commitment. You can cancel your membership anytime by giving us 30 days notice in writing. Please note that there are no refunds for membership fees already paid.

  • You can click the “Book Now” button below, or call or text 786-481-3404, to schedule a free virtual meeting with the doctor to determine if our practice is the right fit for you and whether we can meet your needs. If we both agree the Wellgrove Family Med is right for you, we can schedule your first appointment. Before your first appointment, you will receive relevant forms to review and we will go over them when you come in to the office. Registration fee and first month’s payment are due at the time of the first appointment.
